'Iolani School Arrillaga Student Center

An impressive new student life and wellness center

The Arrillaga Student Center at ‘Iolani School was designed as a new hub for student life, bringing together spaces for learning, wellness, dining, and community connection within a modern campus environment.

Designed by Gensler in collaboration with WCIT Architecture, and built by Albert C. Kobayashi, the building integrates flexible gathering areas, study spaces, and dining facilities that support the daily rhythm of student life while strengthening connections across the campus.

The architecture emphasizes openness and transparency, with generous natural light, outdoor connections, and materials that complement the broader campus context while introducing contemporary learning environments designed for collaboration and community.

For the photography of this project, ‘Iolani School led the assignment with a focus on creating pristine architectural images that highlight the design and spatial experience of the building without occupants. The resulting photographs document the clarity of the architecture, the quality of light within the interior spaces, and the role of the new student center as a central gathering place for the school community.
