In 2023, Civil Beat, an esteemed nonprofit news organization rooted in the vibrant community of Honolulu, Hawaii, embarked on an exciting journey as they relocated to their new headquarters in the heart of the eclectic Kaimuki neighborhood.

Situated at the iconic intersection of Koko Head Ave. and Wai‘alae Ave., acclaimed architecture firm G70 took the helm, transforming the landscape with the unveiling of the magnificent Kaimuki Gateway Plaza, affectionately dubbed Civil Beat Plaza.

This visionary project stands as a testament to thoughtful urban renewal, boasting three floors of meticulously designed office space atop a bustling ground-level retail hub. Notably, this hub now houses Goodwill, which has severed the local community for more than seven decades.

The architectural marvel effortlessly blends modernity with the timeless charm of Kaimuki, preserving its unique character while offering a beacon of progress and innovation.
