Hyatt Place at Ho'opili - Ewa Beach Hotel
Ewa Beach’s first hotel, built for a fast-growing West Oahu
The Hyatt Place at Ho’opili is a 240-room, dual-branded Hyatt Place/Hyatt House hotel in Ewa Beach, the first hotel built in the area. It sits within the Ho’opili master-planned community, next to a Skyline rail station and across from the University of Hawaii West Oahu campus…a location built for the next phase of growth in West Oahu.
Designed by Lowney Architecture, developed by Alaka’i Development in partnership with Brue Baukol Capital Partners, and built by Moss & Associates, the five-story, roughly 32,000-square-foot hotel pairs Hyatt Place’s select-service format with Hyatt House’s extended-stay design, addressing a significant shortage of affordable, middle-market lodging on Oahu.
The architecture leans into its setting, with oversized windows framing views of the Wai’anae mountains and Ho’opili’s open fields. Guest amenities include a business center with meeting rooms, a dining room, bar, 24-hour fitness center, and an outdoor pool and spa with a gathering lanai, spaces designed to serve both short-stay travelers and longer-term guests. For the surrounding Ho’opili community, the bar and restaurant have been a welcome addition, giving neighbors a walkable spot to eat and gather that didn’t exist in the area before.
For the photography of this project, Lowney Architecture led the assignment with a focus on the exterior of the building, with an emphasis on the hotel’s proximity to the Skyline rail system. A Skyline train appears in many of the exterior images, a deliberate choice that speaks to a bigger story: this is the first hotel on the west side of Oahu directly connected to Honolulu by rail, a rare thing for West Oahu and a meaningful part of what makes this project significant.
