Civil Beat Plaza

Interior and exterior architecture photography of Civil Beat Plaza in Honolulu, Hawaii.

In 2023, 3650 Waialae, LLC sought to build a new office building in the Kaimuki area of Honolulu, Hawaii that would welcome back the eclectic neighborhood’s Goodwill Hawaii location, as well as serve as the new home of Honolulu Civil Beat, an esteemed nonprofit news organization rooted in the vibrant community

Situated at the iconic intersection of Koko Head Ave. and Wai‘alae Ave., acclaimed architecture firm G70 took the helm, transforming the landscape with the unveiling of the magnificent Kaimuki Gateway Plaza, affectionately dubbed Civil Beat Plaza to recognize the local nonprofit newsroom and its commitment to investigative journalism.

This visionary project stands as a testament to thoughtful urban renewal, boasting three floors of meticulously designed office space atop a bustling ground-level retail hub. Notably, this hub welcomes back Goodwill, which has served the local community for more than seven decades.

The architectural marvel effortlessly blends modernity with the timeless charm of Kaimuki, preserving its unique character while offering a beacon of progress and innovation.
